ABOUT STOCKHOLMS GLASBRUK
AB Stockholms Glasbruk here at Skansen was built in 1936, but was started three years earlier in a basement at Södermalm's square at Slussen. Old drawings of a glass mill in Johannisholm - in Venjan's parish in Dalarna - from the late 1700s, has been used as the model for the construction.
Stockholms Glasbruk was run in 1933-1980 by manufacturer Ture Berglund and his wife Lily. Then his daughter Marianne, with her husband, Göran Hammar, took over the operation. Today, granddaughter Karin Hammar continues the proud tradition further.
Visitors of Glasbruket can closely follow how our skillful glass blowers with traditional tools give life, shape, light and color to today's eco-friendly glowing glass - an act and skill that has captivated people generation after generation.
Karin is a designer and glass blower. Together with the glassware's clever glass blowers, she manufactures beautiful environmental crystal glasses and utility items that can be viewed and purchased at the shop.
